What is the minimum size tank for two adult bearded dragons?

Question by Benjamin Walsh: What is the minimum size tank for two adult bearded dragons?

I want to breed bearded dragons and I have heard so many different sizes. I have been constantly researching it and haven’t found a sure answer. If you could tell me in gallons that would be great because I, mainly, keep fish and I find gallons easier than dimensions.

Wow! I love Austrailn water dragons they are very beautiful! To your question at hand, the cage size for one pair of adult water dragons should be between 4 feet long by 2 feet high by 2 feet wide (4′x2′x2′) and even up to 3 feet high would do them just fine.

The smallest tank for a hatchling/juvenile (under 8″) is a 20 gallon long, but personally I’d go with a 40 gallon breeder. Anything smaller and the temperatures cannot be regulated.

I’d suggest researching your animal, as the more research you do the more you learn.

Here is an excellent careguide on bearded dragons:

I would read through that, as it contains all the answers to your questions.

Anywhere from 3 days to a week. It really depends on the environment around the room, if it is kept at a constant or not. Good luck and congrats on your new water dragon! :)

Can I switch my bearded dragons heat lamp to the other side of the tank?

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Question by Welcome Isabella! March 30!: Can I switch my bearded dragons heat lamp to the other side of the tank?

For those of you who don’t know bearded dragons need a basking(heated)side and a cooling side. My boyfriend wants to move their tank around(like move their log, their hammock, their rock etc.) around just for a change and he also wants to move their heat lamp from one side to the other because he plans on putting their basking branch on the other side. I just want to know if this is ok and what precautions we should take in doing this. I don’t want to stress my babies out at all if possible. Also, my boyfriend is big on change so he might want to change their tank around every so often, how often is too often? Thanks in advance!

My dragons are babies, babies can be housed together. They are only about 2 months old.

I don’t see any problem with what you want to do, a change in how the cage looks might make your beardies more active and explore their new makeover.
