Question by Matthew: how much does it cost to feed a bearded dragon?

How much is the weekly cost to feed a bearded dragon at each stage of life. Also I saw some pellet and dried insect mix bearded dragon food. would that be good to feed it and would it be the cheapest way without taking nutrition from the dragon.
Also, would the canned crickets be more expensive than live ones.

Best answer:

Answer by KimbeeJ
Babies are expensive to feed. They can eat up to 100 crickets a day! Most people order them on line by the 1000′s. When they are older it’s not so bad. Expect to pay about .00 for 50 superworms or .13 cents a cricket at a pet store. An adult beardie can eat 25 supers a week and an equal number of crickets. They also need to have a fresh salad made every day. The pellets and dried foods are garbage…not good nutrition at all. Here’s a good website for nutrition:

How much does it cost to buy a baby bearded dragon with the tank, house, ex.

Best answer:

Answer by WHITNEY05
It’s going to vary by where you buy the bearded dragon. The cost of the reptile alone can range from -0+ at pet stores. The tank will depend on what size you start with; remember that by putting a baby in a 40 gallon tank will stress it out greatly, so you will either need to get a 20 gallon and upgrade or buy a divider and move the divider. Add regular lighting plus UV lighting and an undertank heater. Food bowl, water bowl, and decor. Remember that if you choose to use UV tubes, the dragon needs to be able to get at least 6 inches to the tube in order to get actual rays, and you’ll need to replace the tube every 4-6 months.

I’d say the average total is going to be at least 0-0

I have already done quite a lot of research so although any extra information will be appreciated, you don’t need to explain to me the details of keeping a dragon.
I am wondering, after initial costs are taken care of, how much will I be expecting to pay for food, electricity, health care ect?

Best answer:

Answer by AndromedaStar
After the initial cost you will need: greens and vegetables, crickets (usually 5cents each), substrate, basic cleaning supplies, and calcium supplement.

How that all ads up will depend on where you live and where you buy things. Things like the supplement and substrate will last you a while if you buy large enough amounts.

I really need to know the price of everything you need to take care of a bearded dragon. Cause I am getting one and I need to know how much money I need to save up.

Best answer:

Answer by bobobee
In England, You can pay £250 for a vivarium, £60 for the actual dragon, £20 each for logs, rocks etc. and about £12 every 2 weeks for food.

Then there’s £20 for a light, £20 for a heat lamp and £20 for a heat pad!!

I got everything free because my dads friend didn’t want him anymore!! His kids lost interest after the other BD died. But Max is great and is gorgeous!!

It is very expensive!!

Question by Marta D.: How much should a 2 year old bearded dragon weigh?

Best answer:

Answer by smd1970
Hi! It all depends on what foods you are feeding. Her diet should be at least half vegetation, i.e. dandelion, mustard, turnip, and edible flowers. For protein you should only offer gutloaded crickets, superworms, silkworms, roaches, grasshoppers. Do not feed mice unless she is a breeder. The mice are very fatty and they will eventually burn out her liver. Make sure you offer a calcium and multivitamin 3 times per week. Feed vweggies every day and protein every other day. With this diet she should not be overweight. If you are concerned w/ her weight you should seek a veterinary care.

Question by Andrew A: How time consuming is the care for a Chinese Water dragon and how much will the cost be for everything?

How time consuming is the care for a Chinese Water dragon? Is it a daily thing? Is it difficult?

How much will the dragon, enclosure, and all other supplies approximately cost?

Thanx for any help!

Best answer:

Answer by KaylaByrd
They are kind of time consuming. They need daily attention. They have to be misted a few times a day and fed once a day. (once they are old enough you can cut it down to once every other day)
Most enclosures you have to have home made for a full grown water dragon. They can get 72 inches long. They need a cage with plenty of climbing space. So a taller cage is better than a long one.
It’s best to have a cage will all but the front covered and a screen top. Water Dragons think they can run through glass, so the least amount of glass on the set up as possible is best.
Size wise…for a full grown water dragon, the cage should be at least 3 cubic feet…bigger than that is perfered.

The dragon is usually going to be about , and enclosure is hard to price, the cheapest way to go it to build one…mine is out of wood with a screen top and a plexi glass front….then you have to make sure the wood has a finish so it cannot hurt the dragon…so it all depends with that.
Other supplies…you need a very large water bowl that you can change the water for daily…you can also give them a warm bath as often as you want to…(if you do it once a day or so, you can get a smaller water dish)
They need live foods, crickets and worms while they are on the smaller size…then larger bugs when they get bigger.

Cost all depends on your set-up, where you get everything and how you have it all put together. The only thing I can really give you a good quote on is the price of the dragon itsself.

Chinese Water Dragons aren’t the easiest to take care of and they are not the niceset lizards. If you’re not experiences with reptiles, I would start with something else…like a Bearded Dragon. Geckos or Skinks, if you are experienced and are looking for a bit more of a challenge than a CWD would be a good step.

I hope this helps…GOOD LUCK!!!!!
