How have dragons appeared in many distinct cultures?

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

Question by CP3 4 MVP: How have dragons appeared in many distinct cultures?

Dragons have always been around in ancient mythologies. From the Ancient egyptians, to the ancient chinese, to the native americans to the medieval countries in europe. They all have some kind of dragon and they are always large beasts with claws, scaly skin, snake tail, and have some kind of power like breathing fire. How is it that they have appeared in so many cultures, many which are thousands of miles away from each other and separated by millenniums. Despite the fact that the cultures die, the belief in dragons didn’t until the renaissance

Question by SilverGurl: How many types of dragons are there?

I’m really interested when it come to dragons. I was wondering just how many types there were. I know of the sea dragon, so, what else is there?

Best answer:

Answer by Argyr
European-style dragon, wyvern (no front legs), wyrm (no legs), Quetzalcoatl, and Chinese-style (no wings, 4 legs, loves water).

If you’re talking about the Dungeons and Dragons type, then there are typically two types: chromatic and metallic. Chromatic dragons are colored black, blue, green, red, or white, and are generally evil. Metallic dragons are colored brass, bronze, copper, gold or silver, and are generally good.

Q&A: How many hours of sleep do bearded dragons need?

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Question by Anna S: How many hours of sleep do bearded dragons need?

I just got 2 female bearded dragons that are both adults. I really don’t know how many hours of sleep/light they need per day. Please Help!!

Best answer:

Answer by Luli
I have my lights set to be on from 8am until 8 pm, so 12 hours of sleep per night.

In the wild they would sleep from when the sun sets until the sun rises, but its better to let them sleep a little longer than not letting them get enough sleep.

How often should I feed my 11 month year old bearded dragon crickets? And how many is a good amount?

At 11 months your dragon should be eating large crickets. Look at the space between the reptiles eyes; that’s how large a prey item they should be eating. Any bigger, when eaten, can cause bowel obstruction, chokeing, or paralysis. Cricket feedings for a subadult, like yours, should only be once a day. I usually feed about 1 cricket per inch of body length, not including tail. Of course, this is just a general guide, a few more than that doesn’t hurt, just don’t over do it.

See this site for a great veggie list: http://www.greenigsociety.org/foodchart.htm This food chart tells you everything about proper veggies to feed. Even though it’s a site gear towards iguanas, the veggie info is still good for any reptile that can eat them. Use staple greens in every feeding (collard greens, endive, watercress, escarole, etc.) otherwise, variety is key, so mix it up often.

I usually feed one or the other; bugs or veggies, not both at the same time. I don’t want them to fill up on one and not eat the other. Your dragon should have a diet that is 50/50 veggie and bug, as it should be about half size. When it’s full grown at about 2 years old, the diet should shift to 80% veggie and 20% bug.

How many times and what should I feed my ADULT bearded dragon?

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Question by sara34255: How many times and what should I feed my ADULT bearded dragon?

I am getting an adult bearded dragon in about 5 months and I have started creating a feeding schedule for him. I know all the basics from research and not to feed them certain foods and the size of the food I should feed them but I need a general idea of how many times to feed them insects and vegetables a week. It would also help if you gave me an idea of what vegetables are needed in his diet.
Any answer is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Question by Quetz alCoatl: What has caused the dragon myth to originate independently in so many cultures?

Why is the dragon so appealing that many cultures have created a similar myth?
how about in Aztec mythology? I don’t think anybody from the old world influenced them.
actual dragons? If by “actual dragons” you mean reptiles or lizards, why have they become revered and integrated into a broader term recognized by most cultures?

travel, one person brings the legend with him, and people add it to their culture, but with just enough differences to make it convincing

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Question by pduhe78: How many prestige classes can a player take in Dungeons and Dragons?

How many prestige classes can a player take in Dungeons and Dragons? Is there a number how many a player can have, if so, please list the page where the rule can be found.

Best answer:

Answer by Braymun
A player may take as many Prestige Classes as he/she is eligible for… There are no rules restricting a character from multiple Prestige Classes, there-fore, the normal rules of Multi-classing take precedence. (PHB – pg. 59)

Remember that Prestige Classes don’t incur the normal Exp Penalty that regular Multi-classing gives. (DMG – pg. 76)
