Q&A: How long does it take for a bearded dragon to reach its adult size?
Question by Megan: How long does it take for a bearded dragon to reach its adult size?
I am planning on keeping a pet bearded dragon, and I’m considering buying a smaller 20-30 gallon home for the juvenile, and will upgrade to a larger tank when the animal is older.
If I bought a juvenile, how long should I keep it in smaller tank before I decide to upgrade?

I started out the same way too. In a couple months I absolutely had to put my beardie in to a larger tank. Change tanks as soon as possible because it cant really hurt to have a large tank, it makes more room to move around and it can hurt for them to not be able to move around.

the larger tank is the way to go, I too started out with a smaller tank..then had to up the size in just a few months. The 48 or 55 gal is large enough for them as adults. They grow according to how much they eat..so there really isn’t anyway to say how long it will take. Mine is every bit 18 inches long and still growing.
