All UDT’s troops did not become SEAL’s till 8 years after Ventura was discharged.
The main reason not to claim you were a SEAL when you were UDT, Is respect for the fact that so many SEAL’s were killed, while UDT losses were low.
Would love to see your reference though –
FYI – my motivation is, I’ve had my ass pulled out of it by SEAL’s. -

He may just be using the term “SEAL” because it’s more commonly understood by the public. Slightly misleading, but I don’t think it makes him a poser. In fact, I think he’s one of the few politicians, former or current, that isn’t afraid to challenge the perceived reality of things and throw out different ideas, which is why I like him.
